When you run the installer to upgrade your NXPowerLite Server software you may encounter the following message:
As with all software installed by Windows Installer, it is not possible to upgrade apps when some files are in use. You may be convinced that NXPowerLite Server is stopped and that it is not running but please check through the following steps to ensure it is definitely stopped and no services are currently running.
How to stop the current job
- Open the NXPowerLite Server Dashboard
- Press Stop
- Then press Finish in the 'Stopping' dialog (This only appears while NXPowerLite finishes compressing the current file)
Note: It is possible that the above dialog appears and then disappears quickly. This is a bug we are actively trying to fix. To resolve this either quickly click to pause/stop the software. Then you can hit start and stop again.
Check the job has stopped
If you have stopped the job correctly the file CurrentReport.txt will not exist in the following folder:
%PROGRAMDATA%\Neuxpower\NXPowerLite for File Servers vX
Where X is the major version number of the currently installed NXPowerLite Server.
If the file still appears in the folder then you will need to go back and try and stop the job again.
Ensure NXPowerLite File Server Windows Service and related services are not running
If you have confirmed that the job is stopped and you still have an issue upgrading, then you must check that the NXPowerLite File Server Windows service is stopped. Plus ensure all the related processes are not running.
- Stop NXPowerLite File Server Service
- Open the Services snap-in (Services.msc)
- Navigate to NXPowerLite Server, right-click and choose stop.
Kill all NXPowerLite associated processes
NXPowerLite Server runs some separate processes to ensure the service is robust. Here is more information on those. To kill these processes find any of the following in task manager and right-click to kill them:
- RunCoordinator.exe
- FileServer.exe
- Optimizer.exe
- PauseUtility.exe
After running through these steps the upgrade installation should now work. If not please contact us for help.
