Folders that NXPowerLite Server cannot access will be indicated in a number of ways within the app.
- If you start a run in NXPowerLite and all the folders configured are inaccessible, the following warning will be displayed.
- In the report produced at the end of a run:
- In the log files produced by NXPowerLite Server:
-
%programdata%\Neuxpower\NXPowerLite for File Servers v10\Logs
-
Why do inaccessible locations occur?
This problem occurs because NXPowerLite Server runs in two parts that both need to access to all the configured locations and the local system files.
The Dashboard
This is where you configure the software and runs with access permissions of the currently logged in user. This app ensures the current Dashboard user must be an administrator so it should have access to all of the local resources. You will only be able to add network locations or other server locations that the current user can 'see'.
The NXPowerLite File Server service
The service manages and performs the optimization processing. This service is configured with the LOCAL SYSTEM user by default. This will enable optimization of data residing locally on most server configurations.
Resolution: Configure the NXPowerLite File Server service user account
Please ensure both the currently running user and the user account that the NXPowerLite File Server Windows Service is using have full access (Read/Write/Update/Delete) to the following locations:
- All the folders selected for optimization
- The '%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Neuxpower\NXPowerLite for File Servers v10' folder on the installation server\machine
- The TEMP folder of the local machine
- Installation folder (usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\NXPowerLite Server)
- Registry hive:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Neuxpower\NXPowerLite Fileserver\10.0
Note: Configuring the NXPowerLite File Server Service to use the Domain Admin user account may not always work. Sometimes, that account does not have the required permissions to access the resources listed above.
