There are generally two reasons why Slidewise can disappear from your home tab/ribbon:
- The add-in has become inactive or has been disabled by PowerPoint
- The ribbon has been customized such that Slidewise is not selected for display
Resolve inactive or disabled Slidewise add-in
PowerPoint can set add-ins to be inactive or disabled and this happens for a variety of reasons. Follow these steps to determine how to re-establish your Slidewise add-in:
- Go to the File tab and select Options
- In the PowerPoint tab select Add-ins
- Slidewise should be listed in one of the sections above. If not you need to re-install or repair your Slidewise installation.
- Use the Manage dropdown to select the area related to the SLidewsie issue and click Go...
- For Inactive Application Add-ins select Com Add-ins
- For Disabled Application Add-ins select Disabled Items
- For both, a dialog will appear where you should select the checkbox next to Slidewise to set the add-in active or enable it.
Resolve ribbon customization that omits Slidewise Home tab Icon
Another possibility is that your ribbon has been customized, and a Microsoft Office or PowerPoint update has removed these customizations. This is a common issue, especially if you created a custom tab or group where you moved Slidewise; the update may have deleted your custom tab entirely.
You'll know this is the reason if you can still see a Slidewise tab in your Ribbon.
Follow these steps to re-add Slidewise to your ribbon:
- Right-click anywhere in the ribbon and select Customize the ribbon...
- Either select the Home tab and choose Reset only selected Ribbon tab or choose Reset all customizations
