View File History
NXPowerLite Server keeps track of each file it has seen before, regardless of whether it has been able to successfully compress it. It stores this information in a database stored alongside the configuration files.
This database is consulted when scanning to see if there is an entry for each file it finds. If there is a match NXPowerLite will safely skip the file. It will only try to compress files that have changed significantly in size since they were last compressed
To see the information that NXPowerLite Server holds in its database you can use the the View File History option in the File menu.
The status column will indicate whether or not the file has been successfully optimized or the reason that it could not be compressed.
Note: Get full details of each status in the article Skipped files statuses and reasons explained
Find information about specific files or folders
Use the filter button in the File column header to search for specific files.
Use the filter button in the Status column header to filter for specific statuses.
Clicking on the column headers will sort the data to make it easy to find specific folder information.
View folder summary
Use the View Folder Summary button to see a summary of how many files in the selected folder NXPowerLite has considered for compression.
This gives you a breakdown of the statuses of the files in the folder.
Clear file history (formerly clear audit data)
It is possible to allow NXPowerLite Server to flush the data it stores about the files it has encountered. Doing this will force the software to reconsider files that it previously would have skipped. This can be useful to take advantage of new compression features when upgrading to a new version of NXPowerLite Server or if there is a problem with the software.
The dialog can be opened by using the Clear File History option in the File menu.
There are 5 categories that files can fall into:
Category | Explanation |
Compressed files | Files that have been successfully compressed. |
Unsupported content | Supported files that NXPowerLite has attempted to compress but cannot due to unsupported file content |
JPEGS below the minimum threshold | JPEGs that are below the 1Megapixel minimum threshold. Contact us if you wish to change this setting. |
Compression failure | Files that NXPowerLite could not fully process due to an error. |
Unsupported features | Files that are of supported file extension but not supported file type. For example, RTF file saved with a .doc extension. |
