The PowerPoint User Interface can make managing slide masters and layouts tricky and time-consuming because you can’t easily see which slides are using which layouts. Slidewise presents slide masters, layouts, and slides in a single view, allowing for quick and easy organisation.
Slidewise divides slide masters into two categories: Active and Unused. Unused slide masters are those whose layouts are not used by any slides in the presentation. Typically, PowerPoint would automatically remove these unused slide masters, but they might have been set to "Preserved", like the one below, which prevents deletion even if they are not in use.
Remove unused slide masters
To remove slide masters just right-click on the master slide name, or heading and select "Delete Unused Master".
Consolidate slide masters
Right-click on the "Active Slide Masters" heading and select "Consolidate Slide Masters" to quickly eliminate duplicate masters and save time reorganizing your presentation's slide masters.
To reassign slide masters, select the ones you want to replace and the slide master you want to keep. Then, click "Reassign slides." Slidewise will merge all the masters into the chosen master and automatically match slides to the equivalent layouts. If there are custom layouts that don't match, you'll be notified.
You can also optionally tag slides that use layouts that have been consolidated by Slidewise to make it easy to review them for issues afterwards.
Any slide masters containing only unused layouts will be deleted unless they are preserved, in which case you can use the Delete unused masters feature on the Inactive Slide Masters node.
Check out this video to see how quick and easy it is to consolidate multiple slide masters to just one.
Reassign slide layouts
In the following video, you'll see how to re-assign slide layouts and Slidewise making it clear to the user that a slide master contains only unused slides. Plus, you can see how to easily delete an unused slide master - even if it is preserved.
The Reassign Slides feature allows you to easily select one or more layouts and change them to use another slide layout. This gives you more control over which layouts you want to use for each slide. You can change to a layout that exists in your current slide master or even one from another slide master.
Delete unused layouts
If you have a lot of unused layouts in your slide master(s). Right-click on any Unused layouts to remove them from your presentation.
