Getting Started with NXPowerLite Video

Once registered NXPowerLite Video will compress MP4, MOV and M4V files automatically in the background to reclaim space in the configured folders or drives. Our simple and quick setup process requires no hardware downtime.

Recommended configuration steps

1. Download and install NXPowerLite for File Server

If you haven't already, download NXPowerLite Video and install on your Windows Server.

NXPowerlite Video requires registration to become active and replace files. There is not an evaluation mode. Please download NXPowerLite Evaluation app to test on sample files.

2. Register NXPowerLite Video

When you purchased NXPowerLite you would have been sent an email containing your registration details. This consists of a Registered Name and a 16-digit Registration Key. To unlock NXPowerLite so that it can replace files:

  • Open the NXPowerLite Video Dashboard
  • Under the Help menu item select Register...
  • Enter your registration detail exactly as they were supplied to you.

3. Add folders and drives

Configure the folders and drives that you want NXPowerLite to compress by adding folders. Use the Add folder... button to browse for folders or use the Add Multiple Folders... option in the File menu to configure network drives and UNC paths. See How to scan multiple servers or drives with UNC paths for more details.

4. Set Preferences

You are able to select which video file formats will be processed during the run and also whether to include read-only files. Plus the ability to tweak the performance of the software to ensure the stability of the machine.

To access:

Select the Preferences option in the File menu

5. Configure the Windows Service

NXPowerLite for File Servers relies on the underlying NXPowerLite Video Windows Service in order to process files. By default, the service uses the Local System Account which is unlikely to have the permissions required to access all of the folders and drives that will be configured on the Dashboard.

Ensure the service is configured with an account that has full access to all the folders and drives configured. See Configuring the NXPowerLite Windows Service for more details.
